These Texel sheep were originally brought into the UK from Netherlands. Because lamb produced locally in Scotland could not compete. Traditional breeds such as the Black-Face came a poor second in. Terms of weight and leanness to this Dutch breed. They are hardy animals. Remaining outdoors throughout the winter and are capable of surviving. Even thriving on poor pastures, valued for their meat and fine thick fleece. The ewes have a high milk yield and strong mothering instincts and produce. A prolific number of lambs. BFA have produced a number of Texel figurines, the Jack Crewdson. Sculpted are considered by many to be the best, they are certainly the. Biggest and very weighty. The figurine is in excellent condition, no issues at all that I can find. A limited edition numbered 514 off 1500. It is very clean, fresh and. The rear is signed by Jack Crewdson.
