A very nice painting on cut-out wood by Howard Finster, signed, numbered and dated June 8 1997 #41. Created fantastical paintings, sculptures, and environments that were inspired by religious visions he saw from the time he was a boy. He rose to national prominence during the 1980s and 1990s as a result of his involvement with popular music artists R. And the Talking Heads and increasing public interest in his Paradise Garden, a property near his Georgia home that he filled with art made from found objects. All of Finster’s art was informed by his deep religious faith and his desire to share that faith with others. This figure is by Border Fine Arts, and is a black Dexter cow and calf standing in a field. It is a lovely figure, both the cow are calf are in good condition including the horns! And the wooden base is in good condition. The figure is modelled by Ayres, with the stamp on the back. This is a Limited Edition figure and comes with the certificate it is number 145 of 500, designed and hand made in Scotland. The limited edition number is also hand written on the back of the figure. The figure, cow and calf are in good condition with no chips or cracks, and the colour is good. The figure is approx. 25cm long and approx. 16cm high to the top of the horns, and also has the sticker on the base, indicating it is figure number B0974.
