About This Piece: This charming Border Fine Arts figurine titled “Helping Out” (item number B0202) was sculpted by artist Anne Wall in 1997 and depicts a humorous country scene of two mischievous Border Collie dogs in a vegetable garden. One dog is carrying a cabbage leaf while the other has a carrot, surrounded by cabbages and carrots they’ve clearly been “helping” themselves to from the garden. A scarecrow’s coat hangs in the background, ineffective against these four-legged vegetable thieves. The piece captures the playful nature of Border Collies and showcases the exceptional attention to detail that Border Fine Arts pieces are known for – from the realistic textures of the dog fur to the veining in the cabbage leaves and the textured carrot tops. The natural scene is mounted on a polished wooden base, and the underside features the green felt covering with the piece’s title “Helping Out” and production information. This whimsical figurine would appeal to dog lovers, Border Collie enthusiasts, and collectors of rural life sculptures. It’s a charming representation of country life and the sometimes troublesome but endearing behavior of our canine companions.
