“A Bit of a Stretch ” by Border Fine Arts is a limited-edition figurine, created by the celebrated artist Ray Ayers and made and hand-painted in Scotland. The full edition numbered just 500 pieces, and of these 50 were commissioned by Peter Jones as an exclusive GOLD edition. This is number 12 and is presented with a Certificate of Authenticity in confirmation. With his customary skill and eye for detail, Ayers has created a tableau of three generations of the same family, working in harmony to bring in the crop, but each finding It’s a bit of a stretch! The grandson is behind the wheel of the McCormick Farmail Tractor and is having to sit well forward for his feet to reach the pedals. Behind him, Dad strains to lift up the bales for Grandfather to stack on the farm trailer. Sadly, the original box is missing, but this exquisite figurine will travel to you securely and safely in a double wall box, packed with bubble wrap and protective foam. Thank you for your interest. The Millennium Snow Ball features Lord and Lady Woodmouse in the Ice Hall along with two musician mice performing on a raised platform under an archway covered in holly leaves and beneath a (removable) sprig of mistletoe. The fabulous scene is presented on a wooden plinth, it has a metal name plate on the front and is marked on the back as being number 291 of 999. “A New Beginning” was created by the artist Vaughan Williams for Country Artists and manufactured exclusively for Peter Jones of Wakefield, the iconic store, ironically now closed after more than 60 years. It is a mighty piece, W43cm, D 38cm weighing more than 5 kg. It features a British Railways lorry delivering a tractor to Meltham farm. The lively scene is beautifully realised. Chickens, Geese and the Farm Cat all seem very interested in the new arrival and as the farmer chats to the lorry driver and his mate, his daughter can be seen stroking their horse, perhaps reassuring him that he’s not being totally replaced….. This stunning sculpture, created by the artist Ray Ayres for Border Fine Arts, was commissioned by The Posthorn, Castle Douglas. It is presented here in the original box and protective packaging together with a Certificate of Quality and the Certificate of Authenticity which certifies that it is number 250 of a strictly limited golden Edition of 350 pieces out of an edition of 950. It is a large model, 19ins (49cm) in length and in superb condition. “Clean Sweep” depicts a farmer and his horse’sweeping’ up the hay using a wooden Haysweep (or Tumbling Tam), an American invention that arrived in Britain in the late nineteenth century. Employed with a single, steady fast walking horse it scooped up the hay in a mounting pile ready to be dropped into a cart. The classic scene, captured here, would have been a common sight until the advent of pick-up hay balers in the 1950’s. Thank you for your interest. Please check out my other listings.
