1996 Limited Edition 78 / 1750 Border Fine Arts figural group’The Crossing’ #B0013. A beautiful and superbly realistic sculpture by Ray Ayres depicting a shepherd and his flock of sheep in a natural setting. This lovely item is attached to a polished wooden plinth. I cannot see any damage or major chips/nibbles The only defect i could find is a small nibble to the back of one of the rams ears – image 10. That said I have given the piece a good look over and cannot find any other damage but there could be the odd small nibble that i missed. I have given a lot of images so please do look for yourself. 13 1/2in X 10in X 7in high. This excellent BFA figurine designed by Ray Ayres features a Shepherd ably. Assisted by two Border Collie dogs, driving a total of five black faced ewes. It is a fine, large and quite heavy figure being nearly 7 inches in height. And slightly over 12 inches long across the front, it looks good and it. The terrain and underfoot conditions are moss covered. Rocks-stones beside a stream with a backdrop of a dry stone wall. It was issued by BFA in 1996 in a strictly limited edition of 1750, this. Particular figure in no 727 and it will be accompanied with the original. It was expensive at that time retailing at around. Was up on the fells, and this day was no exception as he drove his prized.
