This dramatic ornament, sculpted by Ray Ayres for Border Fine Arts in 1972, is a multicoloured sculpture made of resin. Hand painted in Scotland ” Holding Her Ground” (B0500) depicts a Swaledale ewe with her lamb. Standing on a rocky outcrop, she is confronted by a border collie sheepdog, determined to re-unite them with the rest of the flock, Showcasing the craftsmanship, the intricate details perfectly capture the tension of the moment. Part of the James Herriot collection, it was a limited-edition piece (242/2500). Pre-owned in good condition it is presented with the original polished wood plinth but missing the LE certificate.
