The very popular racehorse and very appropiately named Best Mate. Was an Irish bred but English owned winner of the Cheltenham. Gold Cup in 2002, 2003 and 2004. Ridden by Jim Culloty he was. Considered as one of the most loved horses in the UK. Well known commentator Allistair Down said He became one of. Those rare animals who got under our skin and graduated to. Many promise but few deliver as Best. Out of 22 racecourse starts he won 14 and never fell at a fence. Country Artists produced this excellent figurine which was commissioned. By Peter Jones China, and it is in as new condition. I can find no issues. At all, it is clean, fresh mounted on a hardwood plinth with a brass plate. Only 500 were produced and this is number 7, it has been well. Made and hand painted and comes with a certificate. I have a good collection of figurines inc. Other racing related ones on. 1996 Limited Edition 78 / 1750 Border Fine Arts figural group’The Crossing’ #B0013. A beautiful and superbly realistic sculpture by Ray Ayres depicting a shepherd and his flock of sheep in a natural setting. This lovely item is attached to a polished wooden plinth. I cannot see any damage or major chips/nibbles The only defect i could find is a small nibble to the back of one of the rams ears – image 10. That said I have given the piece a good look over and cannot find any other damage but there could be the odd small nibble that i missed.
